Our mission

Public officials and public agencies must earn the trust of citizens by being accountable to them. When our public servants fall short of that mark, Colorado Government Watch will step in.

We will demand transparent operations for all to see; uncover potential conflicts of interest that betray the public’s trust, and expose hidden agendas that subvert lawmaking, undermine public institutions and paralyze government.

Our effort in state and local public advocacy serves as an accountability watchdog for our communities and our state, holding public officials to higher standards of openness, integrity and ethics. We use the tools available to the public—including open-meetings and public-records laws, as well as government bodies that oversee the ethics of public officials and agencies—to compel elected and appointed officials to disclose records, heed ethics laws and divulge agenda-driven motives and special interests.

We will keep you, the public, informed of our progress on these efforts as well as about related issues. Be sure to like our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter at @CoGovWatch and sign up for our email newsletter on our homepage to track the latest developments.

Our supporters represent a wide range of Coloradans who are deeply committed to their communities and who aim to hold our public servants to the highest standard.
